In industrial laboratories, the shoe covers need to be chemically resistant, waterproof and toxic substance repulsive.

There is six different types of materials that may be used to make shoe covers and these are Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Silicone, Rubber, Aluminized fabric and Leather.
